Happy Easter! This Ostara, we went all out making one of the weirdest things we’ve ever heard of: A chocolate and cake-based recreation of scotch eggs, using Cadbury eggs as the base. Like most of the good things we’ve ever done, it started out as a joke, and then we took it way too far.
We opened this episode with a callback to the king cake episode, thanks to our listener and pal Jeffy, who sent us an article about Pancake Day events in Kansas. Then we chatted a bit about what we’ve been eating and cooking, including this stout cake from Nigella, before getting straight into this week’s recipe, courtesy of Cupcake Jemma.
It was not all smooth sailing, friends, but we had lots to discuss about what we liked and didn’t like about this recipe, and what we learned along the way. Afterward, Steph conducted a very professional egg-based interview, which included mention of this old-school Cadbury commercial and Liz’s favorite Korean egg dishes, gyeran mari and gyeran jjim.
We wrapped up with a bit of chat about next episode’s bake, which will be these profiteroles. We’re going dealer’s choice for the filling, with Steph leaning toward pastry cream and Liz contemplating chocolate or coffee whipped cream, so feel free to bake along and let us know how it goes!
Now, for the hardest part of this post. This week’s recipe photos. Prepare yourselves.

Well. They can’t all be winners. Thanks for joining us for this ridiculous episode. We will see you next time. Take care, y’all!
